Thank you for all your kindnesses

Trouble is, these bloody people are everywhere and I had hoped that the people we know and are closer to would be sticking up for people like me when they read about the "scrounging people on benefits who are *SHOCK HORROR* of working age".Mad

Richard has promised me that he will speak to this chap about his comments but worse his beliefs, we are not all thiefs.

Dear Jenni,
I just read your post and I, too, think that we are surrounded
by this type of git!
There, I've said it!
My theory is that people with his attitude hate their jobs and lives.
Also, I think that many people are terrified by disability in others
because it reminds them that it could happen to them too!
They would rather we stay in the shadows.
Certainly not talking about our disabilities or adaptations we need.
The wierd thing is that it is very difficult to predict which people will be
sympathetic and understanding and which ones would rather run for the hills!
I read a long time ago that most people with some kind of disability are
born completely healthy and the disability comes along later in life via illness
or accident.
I think maybe we need to start including this in the school curriculum, in the hope
of raising awareness and reducing prejudice.
I have thought for a long time that women are not warned that they run a much
higher chance of developing diseases like R.A than men.
It really shocked me, once I had R.A to learn that just being a woman put me
much more at risk!
Surely a mark of a civilized society should be making sure that people who need adaptations
for independent living get them?
I realy hope that this man never makes such hurtful remarks again to anyone!
Much love,
FionaThumbDown
